One of the key responsibilities of the Evaluation Department (EvD) is to ensure that past experience is applied to new projects and policies. EvD consults extensively with banking teams when identifying lessons learned. An extensive internal lessons learned database is maintained by EvD for use by operational staff during project development. The database contains lessons gathered by EvD since 1993. A system is in place to ensure that operational staff use material from the internal lessons learned database when preparing new projects.
The external lessons learned database contains key lessons taken from the more extensive internal database. It is aimed at external parties interested in the lessons that the EBRD has learned from its projects.
Searching the database
You can search for lessons by selecting a theme or an industry sector. The themes are split between those relating to the EBRD's transition mandate and those relating to sound banking.
